14 Days of Booze

March 2, 2010

For this project I decided to collect beer and alcohol labels and caps. They are something that i come across in my everyday life. I scanned the labels and caps then altered them in Photoshop. I wanted to focus of layering and depth, so I chose to change the opacity and use shadowing to turn labels in to art.

Assignment 4

February 4, 2010

Questions:
What makes an ad successful? A successful ad is an ad that can sell a product with even having to describe what the product is.

How does this ad utilize formal elements to convey meaning? This ad is very artistic, the color of the suits and the walls give it a somber feeling. All the men look like they are upset and by the way they are holding their hands they look like they are praying. Although the color is primarily dark by placing the shirtless man in the center it gives the ad contrast. There is a sense of balance in the room even though the models aren’t evenly balanced on the page. Because the models are all looking different directions it gives the ad a sense of movement.

How does the information flow?
The first thing i noticed about the ad was the guy with out his shirt on. I noticed him not only because of his amazing body but also because of the contrast he creates. Everyone else is dressed in mostly black and he is very bright considering his surroundings. The next thing i notice is how every one of the models is look toward the Dolce & Gabbana logo at the bottom. At first you don’t notice it because you are only looking at the faces of the men. But once you notice it, it becomes more and more clear.

Assignment #2 Digital Art and Culture

January 28, 2010

In our world today technology is a part of every day Society. In the United States almost 84,000,000,000 people have access to a computer. Even in less prosperous countries, where not everyone may have access to one, they are still exposed to the art and things created by technology.

Although advertisement, in my opinion, is the major aspect of digital art, there are some really amazing works of art that have been created on a computers. Programs like Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are giving people all over the world access to create amazing pictures, animations, and designs.

If you havent created art on a computer you still see it every time you see an advertisement, a logo, and even t-shirt. In my opinion most of all digital art, is used to advertise, and that is the biggest way that Digital Art impacts our culture.
